Give Grok Bot and Coding Agents a Clear Handoff Contract

Coordinate a bot with Claude Code, Codex, or another coding agent using one owner, a bounded work request, verifiable output, and a review gate.

Start with one owner and one work request

Pick a small task such as summarizing a pull request or reproducing a bug in a test project. Name the coordinating bot, the coding agent, the repository, and the person who reviews the result. Two agents editing the same files without a shared owner can undo each other’s work.

A transport does not solve ownership. Whether you use a connector, a network tool, or a manual handoff, keep the same explicit work request and completion evidence.

Write the handoff

  • Goal: the behavior to change, plus an example of success.
  • Scope: repository, branch or revision, allowed files, and excluded areas.
  • Constraints: runtime, deployment target, privacy requirements, and existing tests.
  • Deliverable: patch, explanation, test output, and any remaining uncertainty.
  • Stop conditions: missing credentials, conflicting changes, or a destructive action needing review.

Return evidence rather than a completion claim

Ask the coding agent for the exact revision and changed files, what it tested, and the result. Have the coordinating bot check that evidence against the original request. A message saying done does not show that the intended branch, build, or live environment changed.

Keep credentials out of handoff text and use existing scoped access. Installing a bridge or sharing a session can grant real machine access; review the current project’s installation and access model before connecting it.

Try a read-only PR desk first

A PR summary is a useful first exercise: ask for the affected behavior, risky changes, test gaps, and questions with file references. Keep comments, pushes, merges, and deployments disabled until you trust the result. Review the GitHub PR Desk template in the directory as a starting point, then inspect its publisher instructions before adding it.
